Sam Matthews

Researcher

Sam has recently joined Best Foot Forward as a Researcher.  He has a BSc in Geography from the University of Nottingham and an MSc in Climate Change from the University of East Anglia. 

Sam has a background in organisational carbon footprinting, having previously worked for an NGO as a carbon footprint consultant. He has acquired a carbon accounting proficiency certificate and taken part in a Best Foot Forward ‘Carbon Masterclass’. Sam is a graduate member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and a registered Environmental Professional in Training (ePt) (Eco Canada). 

Since joining the company, Sam has provided great value to the analytical and consultancy teams through primary research, market data collection and processing in data models and producing output for client communication. 

He has developed a knowledge of Product Portfolio Footprinting and is learning how to apply this in the context of Best Foot Forward’s Footprinter tool. 

Sam’s personal aspiration is to achieve IEMA associate membership. His career ambition is to develop expertise in product carbon footprinting and to expand the knowledge and use of Product Portfolio Footprinting in the FMCG sector. 

In his spare time, Sam enjoys walking, running along the Thames Path, watching sport, playing 5 a side football, pub quizzes, landscape history and art, genealogy and exploring his new surroundings in Oxford.
