"I’m always impressed by how quickly Best Foot Forward adapts to the needs of its clients..."

Associate

A finance professional now working in sustainability - possibly the future if environmental impact ever gets a sensible price! With a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Bath University, Paul initially worked as an engineer for Unilever before finishing an MBA at Warwick University and returning to a finance role in Unilever.

Paul’s interests in walking and kayaking have always centred around the natural environment. During his role as Treasurer for Unilever in Africa and whilst living and working in Durban, South Africa, he completed a distance learning MSc in Environmental Decision with the Open University.  His final thesis was associated with the impact of environmental metrics within Unilever.  Consequently he chose a career move into sustainability and joined Best Foot Forward in 2008.

Paul has led the following projects:

  • A range of studies within the NHS covering offices, hospitals and care pathways
  • A range of projects associated with the London 2012 Olympics
  • Organisation wide carbon management software for AMEC
  • Analysis of embodied and in use carbon for new schools for Balfour Beatty
  • Embodied and in use carbon of the IT estate of the Greater London Authority
  • Product carbon footprinting software for FIRA

"I’m always aware of how dynamic the sustainability market place is and always impressed how quickly Best Foot Forward is able to adapt to the needs of its clients and the changing drivers of the market."

Most likely to say...
"Why aren’t the accountants involved in this?"

Most frustrating factor
"Outsourcing UK production and services to economies with carbon intensive electricity grids such as China and India!"
