“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go with others”

Nicola Pengelly

Office Manager

Nicola joined Best Foot Forward in July 2011 as Office Manager.

Her interest in the environment stemmed from being born and raised in Cornwall, surrounded by a stunning coastline and rural environment. Her A-level geography project focused on coastal footpath erosion at Sennen Beach, one of her favorite surfing locations, which inspired her to undertake a BSc in Environmental Science and Coastal Zone Management at the University of Scarborough.

Nicola relocated to the Isles of Scilly where she worked for the Wildlife Trust and completed her PgDip and MSc in Coastal Zone Management by distance learning at the University of Ulster. Her passion for scuba diving enabled her to study the environmental impact of the wreck of the HMV Cita which sank off the coast of the islands in 1997. Her findings were published in the Journal of Coastal Zone Management.

Nicola’s experience is in employer engagement, project management and European funding streams. Nicola spent several years working for Cornwall College as a project consultant where she worked closely with the environmental sector in Cornwall, writing bids and managing projects. She was responsible for developing the Environmental Skills Network for Cornwall which provided funding, training and strategic support for emerging SMEs in the sector.

In her spare time Nicola enjoys baking cakes and feeding the office, cycling and knitting!

“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go with others”

Most likely to say...

“No worries!”
