Leigh has worked in the field of eco-design of products and packaging for almost 20 years, in academia, business support agencies and commercial consultancy. An expert in life cycle design and carbon footprinting of products and packaging, he helps companies understand environmental issues and adopt the most appropriate strategies in response. 

Leigh has worked with a wide range of sectors from electronics, general engineering, medical and FMCG to retail, packaging, food and drink and the public sector. He has developed innovative new tools to allow companies to integrate carbon footprinting and resource efficiency into their packaging and product development processes.

Leigh also offers advice on Producer Responsibility issues including the following EU directives: Packaging; Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE); Restriction of Hazardous Substances; Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals; and Energy-related Products. He was a member of the Government’s WEEE Advisory Body for the three years of its operation and has worked with many Trading Standards as an expert assessor on the Packaging Essential Requirements Regulations.

Leigh's achievements include:

He has a degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and a PhD in Ecodesign.
