Gregor Pecnik

Consultant

Gregor holds an MSc in Environmental Economics from the University of York and joined Best Foot Forward in 2007. As an environmental economist Gregor looks at environmental issues from the economic viewpoint and is focused on providing a business case for sustainability.

Previously Gregor worked as a sustainability consultant in a development consultancy company in his native Slovenia, where he was responsible for preparation of development plans, sustainability appraisals, investment and business plans and applications for projects applying for EU funds.

In addition to footprinting knowledge, Gregor has a good knowledge of economic appraisal, (environmental) cost benefit analysis and environmental valuation methods. He has completed training for providing CEMARS (Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme) certification services to clients.

Gregor was the lead analyst on the following projects:

  • Achieving certification to Carbon Trust standard for the Intercontinental Hotels Group
  • The carbon footprint assessment of the Greater London Authority’s IT estate
  • As a part of the ‘Low Carbon Station’ project, preparation of carbon footprint, carbon savings and carbon payback of 17 proposed low carbon technology solutions (Tube Lines).
  • Comparing the carbon footprint of the East Coast line and alternative transport modes (National Express)
  • Carbon footprinting for the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust
  • Product footprinting of retread tyres for the Centre for Remanufacturing & Reuse
  • Development of a lifestyle carbon footprint calculator for Eurostar’s “Cut a quarter” campaign
  • Carbon footprinting of Jamie’s American Roadtrip

Gregor recently spoke (in Slovenian) at a climate change conference and gave a related newspaper interview.
