Advice on running low carbon events in Hyde Park

To coincide with the 2012 Olympics, the Greater London Authority organised a series of events in Hyde Park, London, which were attended by millions of people. These included music concerts, with giant screens on which the Games were shown. The GLA was keen to minimise the environmental impact and associated costs. To help them understand where they should focus their efforts, Best Foot Forward calculated a carbon footprint for the events and advised the GLA on ways to reduce their impact. Recommendations covered the operation and choice of generators and electrical equipment, fuel sources, food and drink, sustainable seafood, waste management and transport.
