UK living well beyond its ecological
means
A new European
Environment Agency sponsored study of 152 national economies
has identified the UK as one of the world’s most ecologically
indebted nations.
It is using proportionately far more resources per person
than could be sustainably produced within its own borders. In
other words, its ecological footprint is substantially higher
than the nationally available biocapacity.
The UK ranks 6th behind the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait,
Cyprus, USA and Israel. Learn more...
