The LOW footprint challenge
Best Foot
Forward's goal is to help regions, organisations and
communities to reduce their 'ecological footprint' through the
delivery of a wide range of analytical tools and consulting
services.
As part of our on-going commitment to action, we are
launching our Living on One World (LOW) project which aims to
concisely define the problems facing our resource-hungry
economy and showcase social and technological solutions which
can reduce consumption to sustainable levels. Introduction to LOW

Footprinting
on the UK SD agenda |
|
The high level of interest in the ecological footprint as
an aggregated indicator of sustainability warranted its
mention in the UK Government's new sustainable development
strategy 'Securing the Future' launched in March this year.
Further research into the use of the footprint is promised.
Meanwhile, the Audit
Commission has dedicated a whole Appendix to the
ecological footprint in its new Local Quality of Life
Indicators report (August 2005). No fewer than three BFF
projects are referred to; City
Limits, Material
Health and A
Greener Essex. |

BFF are chairing the Business Forum for the 2nd Solar
Cities Congress - one of four fora that make up this
International event. The first Congress was held in Daegu,
South Korea in 2004 and the second will be hosted in Oxford
next year (3-6 April 2006).
Says BFF Director Craig Simmons: "The Congress will
bring together hundreds of academics, business people,
citizens and mayors from around the world. All will be focused
on making low carbon cities a reality."
The event will also feature a Solar Exhibition for
businesses. |
