Broads Authority

The Broads Authority (BA) commissioned Best Foot Forward and the Low Carbon Innovation Centre at the University of East Anglia to complete a carbon audit of the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads region to provide quantitative information on emissions and sequestration from activities and services within the region. Areas of study within the boundaries include activities directly influenced by the BA such as office operations, recreation, navigation, land management; and wider activities over which the BA has no direct influence. Our results found that the BA’s own operations account for only ~1% of total Broads’ footprint with the dominant sources coming from a local factory, land use emissions, tourism activities and visitor travel. These results have provided an informative baseline to target carbon reductions with initiatives which include fuel use by boats, enhancing carbon storage in soil/vegetation and improvements in transport efficiency and use.
BFF chosen as England 2018 sustainability partner

Best Foot Forward has been selected as a sustainability partner for the England 2018 bid to stage the FIFA World Cup in England in 2018. Other partners include the London 2012 Olympics, the British Council, WRAP and the Environment Agency (all of which we have advised on carbon reduction) as well as UK Sport, the FCO, Sport England and Comic Relief. England 2018 heard about our event footprinting work for London 2012 and has asked us to undertake carbon analysis for their bid. We’re very pleased to be supporting England 2018, which looks a stronger contender day by day.
